YOW Jazz, May 14: profiling upcoming performances of the Andres Vial Trio and Steve Boudreau with Petr Cancura, plus new releases
New releases include the Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra, the Brenan Brothers, and some Spring-like tracks
On May 25, Andres Vial Trio of Montreal visits Ottawa, to play at GigSpace. Here’s a taste of a live performance.

Steve Boudreau (piano) and Petr Cancura (sax) are playing at 10,000 Hours Studio on May 17. There are no recordings of the two of them - so we will hear a track from Steve Boudreau’s latest release, Plays Jerome Kern, and a track from Petr Cancura’s 2019 release, “Boogie Nights”.
New Releases
We will sample some recent Canadian releases, followed by a set of Spring-like tunes to round out the show.
We will sample two new Canadian releases. The first is from the upcoming album, Harbour by the Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra. The album will be released in June, and we will hear the just-released single track from that album, Fantasy on Blue.
We will also hear a track from the new release, Valley of Silence, by The Brenan Brothers, from Edmonton. The band is:
