YOW Jazz, February 3: Holly Cole and Marina Albero
An interview with Holly Cole about her new release, Dark Moon; an interview with Spanish pianist Marina Albero about her musical journey; plus, a new release from Jacob Wutzke
This past weekend there was a lot of live jazz in Ottawa - three nights of it courtesy of the Ottawa Jazz Festival. Many shows were sold out and the shows I saw were excellent. Here are some pictures from the shows I saw.

The drummer for both Caity Gyorgy and Jocelyn Gould was Jacob Wutzke, currently based in Montreal - we will start the show with a track from his new release, “You Better Bet”.
Holly Cole released her 13th album last week, “Dark Moon”. I had a chance to talk to her about the recording of the album, the strength of silence, and the moon theme of the album. We will hear some of that conversation as well as some tracks from this new release. Here she is performing “No Moon At All”.
Marina Albero is a Spanish pianist and composer, who is now located in the United States. I talked with her about her musical journey that led to her new release, “Nomad of Sound”. Here’s a video of the recording of one of the tracks from the release.
You can listen live on Tuesday at 11 a.m., at 93.1 on the FM dial or stream at CKCUFM.com. The show will also be available for on demand streaming.
