And the winners are… Junos for jazz handed out

Last night, the winners of the jazz instrumental categories at the Juno Awards were announced. I featured the nominees in both categories last week on In A Mellow Tone

The winners were announced on Saturday night - Christine Jensen for instrumental solo and Hilario Duran and his Latin Jazz Big Band for instrumental group. Both are Canadian jazz institutions and it's nice to see them recognized.

I did a one-hour profile of Hilario Duran on In A Mellow Tone on February 28 (my co-host, Heavy Ben, did the first hour featuring Al Tanner).

I'm planning a show featuring both Christine and Ingrid Jensen in the near future.
